Sprigs of Lavender - 4. September 2022

Lavender is an ideal subject for practising the basics of painting.

The beauty of it is that you get a nice and colourful result in a short time.

A Piece of Water Melon - 3. September 2022

It's time to upload a picture again.

One of the most popular watercolour subjects - the watermelon.

When the brush does not do what you want

Finally, I wanted to leave the talent-free zone.

So I attended a painting class in Prerow (Germany) on the Baltic Sea from 8. - 12. August 2022.

The course was led by the very talented painter Claus Rabba through Artist travel.

Highly recommended, as the course was also very entertaining thanks to his sense of humour.

But now, let's get to my "paintings":

On day one, in the most beautiful sunshine, I made a charcoal drawing of the harbour that looked like a foggy autumn day.

On Tuesday, I inconspicuously disposed of my scrawl in the paper bin.

On Wednesday the same again. As I felt a little bit ashamed, I painted in the dim hotel light a path to the beach incl. a so called Windflüchter. To my amazement: the tree was even recognized as such.

On Thursday it remained with the attempt to paint a beach.

On Friday we learned to paint a wave. Or let's put it that way: the other participants learned to paint a wave. Claus said about my final work that my painting definitely shows watercolour techniques, if you leave out the wave... :-)

One of the participants said: it usually looks better from a distance  (see image). Well, well...

What mattered in the end was the joy of painting. And that I had! Even if my painting has not yet made waves. :-))

Where Wild Flowers Grow - 18. April 2022

I love visiting museums and exhibitions. However, I like modern and abstract art a less. Some might say that I don't understand it. That may well be.

However, when I look at this sensational result of my abstract art, I might change my mind - at least as far as abstract art is concerned.

Violin - 25. March 2022

Today I have painted my first violin ever.

Looking at the quality of the image, I'm unlikely to play first fiddle.

And I wonder if it's a coincidence that the song "Senseless violins" by the Sparks comes to mind? :-)

Painting is like learning an instrument: practice, practice and practice again.

Painting Charlie - 15. March 2022

Most of all I love to paint Charlie Chaplin.

Here is a painting from Mid-March.

The background was created rather accidentally...

Learning to paint...

I would love to be able to paint beautifully. That's why I put it on my resolution list this year to learn to paint. Unfortunately, I have no talent. Not even a little. But because I have so much fun doing it, I just paint anyway. And that's why I'm practicing diligently now.
